Paradise Island: Nubia

Drop me off at this island with Nubia and you don't even need to come back.....matter of fact don't come back I'm straight! I guess you can see why/ so why is Nubia not back into DC continuity? It's 52 ways to relaunch ms Prince back into the books, more even. I'm not going to give you my why's. Just read the facts and on this one I really want to hear from the women of comics, movies and or reviews; especially  the Wonder Woman and Artemis fans.

At the height of Linda Carter's Wonder Woman television series, Nubia was to be introduced to the show. A mego or Barbie doll was also put together to go along with the series. Of course it didn't happen. This is a nice collectors item or toy. The four horsemen from DC Universe classics would be my maker of choice for a Nubia action figure. This would give the guys a way to get one too (just looking out).

Nubia is one of those characters that has everything. Backstory (needs to be updated though) A list connections, unique powers and weapons and a variety of different looks to build off of. So what's the problem? With vixen now being used goods in my eyes  http://betaisdead.blogspot.com/2011/02/black-superheroes-vixen.html Nubia could be the the Love interest of the Bronze Tiger in his own title (DC gives everybody else one) or team title (see TaskforceX/the other league)

Nty-way Wonder Woman should get an animated series and Nubia should get some damn exposure.

  1. Weird timing! I did a quasi-Nubia post a couple of weeks ago, recasting her as Artemis, and am writing a follow-up as part of a theme of racial commentary across several of my blogs. It threw me off to have Nubia at the forefront of my thoughts, and then *wham* your post. Good work!

  4. I really like Wonder Woman and it would be nice to see Nubia come onto the scene. I don't really know a lot about her so it would be good to get to know more of Wonder Woman's sisters; and if she needs anger management like the Amazon Princess, then somebody better watch out. Cause it's beatdown time!!

    1. lol....hilarious. The beatdowns come so offten to the bad guys. Pity the fool(?) not me. I want to keep sending em in there to get creamed.

Nubia and Diana are sisters from the same mother even though all women are her sisters. Heck all men are my brothers and all you ladies are my sisters too. long live the Squad

    2. I think some of the good guys get beatdowns from the Amazon Princess too; ie, Superman and Batman.

    3. This is true. I think maybe your a member of the sisterhood. I'm going to post about the Amazons more often.

  5. Nubia is an amazingly beautiful black amazon woman, but by the way guys, I wouldn't be so quick to want to be left on an island with her. She IS an amazon and you know how they feel about men. And on top of that she's upset about her man Mazda being killed and she might want to take it out on you!!!
FYI Omega Agent1 you get dropped off on an island with her;you might really NEVER come back.

  6. the time that you have put in to research and display the comic book worlds "forgotten talent" makes you wonder why characters with so much potential never get a good spotlight. on the other hand characters that flop continue to get recycled and sometimes even force fed to us because of their isn't much else to choose from. its kind of sad if ask me

    1. It does seem as if all they do is "recycle" the same characters. That's why most people have not even heard of a lot of these characters that would make up great story lines only get cameos now and then in contrast to the more "popular" ones.

    2. I'ts good to know somebody get's it (the big picture). Over and over we get recycled garbage or force fed green eggs and blue ham (60 different legacy character books).

I read alot of comic books. I mean alot most of the time I want to throw em across the floor, step on em and then get my money back.

Then I run into the Court of Owls storyline in Batman or Sinestro just stealing the show in his book not to leave out the X-Men, Defenders and New Avengers. So eveything isn't all bad. It just ain't all good.

  7. The image of Ahura Mazda, who is that? Cause It's not the one featured in the comics.

  8. Xanatos, welcome to the Jungle. The pic of Ahura Mazda is a cropped obscure villain from Marvel comics. I think his look fits my idea of Mazda much better than the crap DC illustrated in Nubia's story.
