Draugr ! !

It's the song that calls the dead.

It's the song that lies.
The messenger sang of the Blighted Host...of slaughter and carrion...
of filth and vermin...Deceit and insanity, of torture and seduction and of Rage.

"It said
the Doommaidens are rising"

But before the Doommaidens come,
the world will be run thru by Draugr.

the Fearless Defenders has jumped off to a good start. It's plot, theme and feel is really strong and has laid down a good foundation for the characters. The art work is nice; right in the middle of animated and highly detailed. It's full of action with the right amount of light hearted sarcasm without being corny (so far). The three lead characters Valkyrie, Misty Knight and Moonstar are perfect. If they add in a guy to this group (Gunhawk, Reno Jones)  it should add to the awesomeness of what's a must read for you action adventure types. I say grab you a flying horse a bionic arm and a bow and arrow and get to it.

Draugr are undead Nordic warriors of Skyrim. Draugr once served Dragons; some even know several words of power. they await you in the deepest tombs and darkest shadows of  Tamriel. You Skyrim players know what I'm talking about.

 the Dragonborn comes...

  1. Misty Knight is pretty irresistible isn't she? i was really into the 2011 Heroes For Hire series but then it came to an abrupt end in favor of a Villains For Hire spin off which i didn't like much. talk about fucken up a good thing especially with the budding love story between Misty and Paladin story line i was into that also got cut short with the end of that short lived H4H series. but i enjoyed this post keep us updated on how this series is going.

    1. She is so that. You ever seen a woman and her beauty her aura makes your legs almost come out from under you? The type of woman that is so fine, from head to toe that it should be illegal for her to posses everything? This is how I see Misty Knight. I could go on but it would be a whole post.

Villains for hire was ok, it was sorta like a low budget Suicide Squad. I was hoping that it turned into that we all know that it didn't come close to the real thing.

I hated the Paladin thing. If it's not Danny Rand it's probably nobody. It just didn't feel right. Don't worry, I'll keep you posted on the series. Asgardia or bust.

  2. I love Dani. I have always loved Dani. I will always love Dani. I really really really want to read this comic. More than that, I want to have money to read this comic. So yeah, let me know how it's going. If it's still good in a few issues, I'll let the kids starve for a couple days.

  3. It's getting more intriguing as we speak. Dani is now captured, and captured by a tough (and bright) old bird that reminds me of (you guessed it) Amanda Waller (but older) and encased in an ancient rock torture device. It's up to our female dynamic duo to save Moonstar before she's killed and turned back into a Valkyrie again.

I'm telling you guys this story is set up correctly.

And feed the Kids missy : )

    1. Yeah yeah. I did. They whine too much and too loudly not too. :)
It sounds awesome. Maybe I'll pick it up on digital. Thusly cutting my costs. Especially if I wait for one of those sales they do. I love those.

  4. Looks good, and as you say, the choice of characters are really solid. The art looks fantastic, so here's to it lasting for a good run.

  5. I did hope this was going to be a great series. There are so many female characters it could rediscover, I'm glad Dani and Valkyrie are two of them. Maybe there is hope for Firestar too cos she has been completely pooped on since Avengers with Kurt and George. Bring back the days of the radioactive temper in this book and she'd be hot again.

I'm with Random, if this book and cast is still sweet in six or so I'll check it out. Power bills aren't that important.

  6. I remember an episode of Spiderman and his amazing friends called a Firestar is born, and to this day it's still one of my favorite animation moments. I think what's killing Firestar is her outfit seems to be dated. Her, Val, Misty and Dani needs to go shopping. Edna Mode will fix her right up.

Your right my friend, power bills aren't that important. Power to the People is. Girl power of the Fearless Defenders.

    1. Can I start in on my "Where is my live action She-Ra Movie?" rant now? ;) I'm kidding. Kind of. Not really. But it is nice to see a female book with strong female leads. Ones that can really kick butt. And aren't always on the A-List. DC does it, but really, their females are always associated with a Bat-title and it usually ends up feeling a bit like Charlie's Angels.

    2. The head of the nail has been hit. DC has strong female A-list characters all Bat and Superman related. Even Vixen (Superman) and Zatanna (Batman) fall under the legacy umbrella like it's no other female characters to introduce.

The male characters don't fair any better.
